Moved from other thread to see if we can get enough interest to proceed.

I think we should remember Kingpin started this "as a way to have fun" and burn copious amounts of powder.

Here's what we have so far.

Simple as I can make it, open to BSB members only, use whatever type of "mag" rifle, sights and other gear, that you feel is fair.

$5 entry fee per target, 50/50 split between BSB and winner of class.   BSB share will go to help with site costs.  What the two winners, do with their share of the pot, is up to them.

Enter as many targets and rifles, as you want to.  Mail in time for Judge to receive by 4/30/11, Judge's decision is final.

Wing Master has volunteered as judge, PM him for mailing address for entries.

One hundred yd class.

Standing, sling allowed, any .257 cal "mag" or larger, five shots for score on this target

http://www.tgscom.com/images/sharedimages/GlockFAQ/ibs_1000_ 250.pdf

Two hundred yd class

Off bench, any .257 cal "mag" or larger, five shots for score on this target

http://www.tgscom.com/images/sharedimages/GlockFAQ/ibs_1000_ 200.pdf

The linked targets will print out on 8 1/2" X 11" paper and are PDF file format, everyone should be able to print them, I printed one of each and they printed fine.

Edited for clarification of wording and to remove poor joke.

I agree to the "rules" posted by RobertMT here....after the ? below is answered about the placement of the 5 shot group........just for clarification.

A ? from rules post...."five shot group, for score on this target"....don't matter where "group" is on target ie bullseye or not....Right?

....could anyone please explain to me how to go about "bribing" the judge.....I really want to have a "fair" shake in this contest!

snow going down fast this past 2 days.....maybe be able to find the range soon......

For score, to me, means for five shots, 50-5x is highest score possible, five shots in X ring, we would not be shooting for best group size, score is the factor.

If a tie needed to be broke, group size could be the tie breaking factor.  People wanted simple, Bulls-eye scoring is as simple, as I could make it.

Edited for clarification.

yup! PLANNING ON IT.  WHERE ARE YOU OTHER GUYS....THIS WILL BE A PRETTY SMALL POT!

.....now I just gotta dust off the 7mm RemMag...check to see if there is still a "hole" in the bbl and work up a suitable load.  Most likely my hunting load but for deer or elk????  Whichever I have the most bullets for.  I kin do the 100yds at the house but need to go to cabin for the 200...or across the road to the neighbors land.....darn they don't have a shooting bench.....back to the cabin....126 miles north of here.....

THE BENCH.........@ YARD ZERO

THE 175 YD GONG......MANHOLE COVER.....now to put the target back another 25yds.....

The million dollar question is, which small town in NW WI is missing a manhole cover and a can of yellow curb paint?   RD

the BIG gong is primarily a rifle target....anything..from .223 on up to 300WinMag with jacketed bullets and 45-70 w/cast....that thing is "tuff" & hard but some on brittle side...it's cast iron, dust flies when it is hit with the cf rifles & small dents do show....
It can be hit consistantly with a .44Mag Redhawk/scoped off bench and even off hand mostly..........never tried anything smaller....yet.....

RD...U is just to danged suspicious of a good 'ol country boy....

The manhole cover is NOT from northern WI town......it migrated over from a northern MN
city..musta been a west wind or something....the yellow paint most probably is some sort of "graffiti" art

targets from the cabin porch.......lower left shows a bar...that has 3 swinging disks on it at 50ft from porch, all these close targets are for lead bullets, mostly handguns....& any .22LRs, long or short gun.

close up of swingers @ 25yds and note orange "dot" far behind & under right side x-arm...75yds mini gongSince this pic was taken there has been a bowling ball hung between pole and each of the brake plates....the bballs absorb lots of hits.

I'm in, I just have to see how many times. I like the 5X 50 rule, but I still think that a group size thing should be included, meaning a 5 shot group, anywhere on the target, but it's up to you and I'll play by those rules......................Kingpin

Everyone wanted simple, I tried for simple, a 49-4x score (four in the xring one in the 9 ring) would be beat by a 50-0x score (five in the ten ring but none in the x ring) and so on and so forth.  If we had two top scores, of say 48-4x score then group size would break the tie.

It's been a long time, but it seems like shooting for score and group size are two different classifications to me.  Wouldn't in a round of a 1K match, a 200-20x perfect score, beat a 2" group in the 6 ring (120-0x score).  The 2" group could be a seperate winner in the group size classification of shoot.

It's looks like we have RaySendero on board, by my count that makes five.

Remember it's open to any "mag" from the .257, to as big as you got, as long as it's considered a "mag".  If someone wanted to use a 50 BMG, I think we could sneek that in under "mag" class rule.

Sorry, you can't use your "varmint" rifle.

If enough want to let you in, I'm not opposed, but how far do we want to open it up?

Went out to check on range today, still too much snow.  I went to another spot, twelve miles up, "unofficial" range, I didn't "quite" have to put chains on to get in and out.  I didn't get the 300 out, but I emptied some AR brass and tried out the new 10/22.  I was pleasantly surprised on the AR.

I'm going to have to find some ammo the 10/22 likes though, it wouldn't do better than 2" groups at 100yds.

Range should be usable by 4/1, so it looks like lots of time left.
