I know we have hashed out what we all like to carry but I was just curious as to what pistol we like to keep loaded by the bedside, the go to gun...NOT the one playing queen in the safe.  Remember this is a pistol only not the 500 or 870 you have in the corner or under the bed....

Normally I would say one of my .45s but I like my HK USP .40 due to the higher round capacity.  (its hard to hold and fire a pistol while carrying an extra mag in your boxers and its too far to run back to where you started to reload) and the wife likes her Glock 9x19 both have night sights.

My Taurus .45, it holds 13 rounds and has a rail light on it.  This will get me to the 870 and a rifle.

the load less then cylinder capacity method is really only relevant to the old Colt SAA and clones of that type.  Load 1, skip one, load 4 more, lower hammer on M/T chamber.

Your modern Charter Arms more than likely passed the H.P. White Labrotory drop test and is designed to negate that procedure, unless you pull the trigger, the firing pin can't be bumped by the hammer.

It also makes a light weigh gun lighter.  I never load more than one shot into my hunting rifles.  It is psychological.  Make the one shot count!!!!  The alternative is spray and pray.LOL

IBD    IBD   IBD  what am I going to do with you???   that is exactly what Mule says!!!!   I'm not surprised  when Mule speaks Hollywood gunsmithing and shooting....but you I'm amazed.Confused

Definition of a pistol:

pis·tol    /ˈpɪstl/ [pis-tl],  noun, verb, -toled, -tol·ing or ( especially British ) -tolled, -tol·ling.

–noun
1.
a short firearm intended to be held and fired with one hand.
–verb (used with object)
2.
to shoot with a pistol.

Revolvers are PISTOLS----Autoloading (aka Automatics) are PISTOLS----single shots are PISTOLS.  Get it straight, and rise above MULIE.

Single shot BP hand cannons (PISTOLS) were around centuries before unloading pistols were invented.  See French Dueling pistols, etc.

My single shot 374 T/C is a PISTOL just like my Model 19 and my SAA,

I remain shocked at your statement.  Mule hasn't been around here......is he visiting you?????Wink

Taurus Judge.

First three holes have buckshot to slow em down and the last two have hot .45 LC's to stop em.

What's all this talk about running, if 8 or 10 45s aren't enough?

I thought this was about a home defense pistol?  I guess my definition of home defense pistol is different, I define a home defense pistol as a means to either stop the attack or to give me time to get to the serious weapons (15' away), the home is like the "Alamo", no retreat/no surrender.

My idea was if 10 rounds of 45 can not stop it then the
attacher is a T-Rex and nothing I have is going to stop it
and I am running for the hills.

Well, they promote a good blood trail if tracking is required.

The factory stuff has 3 or 4 000 pellets. My home brew duplex loads have 6, #4 buck pellets and then #8.5 shot packed around them as a buffer. Throws a nice 2' pattern at 15'.

Mine is a Glock 22 with a combination light & infra-red sight. 16 rounds of .40 S&W. In my neck of the woods the bad guys seldom travel alone and unarmed, wish I had 100 rd. magazine, no telling what might occur and I'm not going to run and leave my wife holding the bag.
