Cause it's fun!

The Dad, Bear, WingMaster, and another unmentionable are here
blasting away at speed goats. Awesome time. Luckily .243 ammo is
cheaper than .22"s cause my trigger finger has been active as usual.
More reports to come.

We set out one morning at about 5:30 to set up camp but decided to stop by an area that was on the way to see if we could find any antelope.

In his normal fashon deaddog made a couple hour long stalk on a group of antelope and got a very respectable doe.

Then we went to another area and set up camp.

Then deaddog and thedad skinned and quartered dd's doe and got in on ice.

That afternoon thedad's friend Pete was a couple of seconds late on a shot at a doe that decided to leave the county at about the speed of sound.

that night we went back to camp and had the first of three of the best camp dinners I have ever had. Thanks deaddog and thedad for cooking while we were there.

the next day thedad stalked up on a group of antelope and missed a shot from across a big draw. it was a long shot and the wind was blowing like it usually does in Wyoming. That was enough for them to leave in a hurry.

Then it was back to camp to make a plan for the next day.

The next day Bear made a stalk on a group of about 10 antelope.

He got within about 370 yards and didn't have anything to hide behind to get closer. The only problem was, they were across a fence on private land.

I tried to get behind them and "Move" them across the fence and to a place that would still be in range. No such luck. They crossed the fence and went from zero to 60 in about three steps. they were gone.

We spent the rest of the day sight seeing and at a prairie dog town.

Then we went back to camp and swapped stories around a camp fire.

And we had a Snake River Lager in honor of CB900F

This was a great bunch of guys and a lot of memories were made.

I hated to see it end.

We had a great time even though we didn't all get an antelope.

Thanks WingMaster for your hospitality and being able to figure out
how to post pics here.
I heard Bear stayed an extra day and cleaned up all the prairie dogs I
missed.

Aarghh! You guys had Snake River Lager!! But I drew a
goat tag this year too. Haven't even had a chance to go
out yet though the season opened on Saturday.

I had eye surgery & was supposed to wait a month before
getting my glasses prescription updated. However, the
surgeon & my opthamologist both thought everything was
way good, so I made my appointment to get updated for
three weeks & got that done. The optometrist gal said
10-12 days for the glasses to come in. At two weeks I
called & asked what's up? She called the lab & they had
dropped the ball big time. There are two hunters in her
household & she knew all about why I was upset. She
called me back the next day & told me that she'd arranged
for a set of plastic lenses ASAP & my glass lenses would
be later, no charge for the extra set. So I got the
glasses, but the wind has been howling, making any
attempt to check zero & sight in without 16 degrees of
prism in the lenses futile. No sense wasting bullets.

No fair!! You guys got the beer and I got shafted!!

The hunting might have been better if it was a little cooler, but we didn't have to set up the stove in the tent.

It was a great time.
