I'll assume these animals are in the area that I hunt most frequently up here in west central MT.

Tas's Whitetail : Close call as an any-time-of-the-season shooter.  A mature 5x5 is a solid trophy up here.  I "think" (???) I would probably pass first week on this one.  Especially knowing rutt and big animals tend to start moving come the end of the season rutt.  Then again, if presented a good shot on legal lands come opening day, I may just punch my tag.  It is a good animal.

Rob1's Mulie : I agree.  I'd hold up most of the season on this one.  He'd be a last week of the season shooter.  Front forks are solid for his smallish frame.  Back forks marginal at best; possibly none on one side.  Can't tell for sure.  Narrow.  He does have a nice, large Mulie body so if I were looking to simply put meat in the freezer, he'd be a solid candidate with an ok plaque mount for the wall.  But if I were specifically after trophy's he'd walk.  As the last couple weeks of this season progress, I'll find myself making the transition from mature trophy hunter to simple meat hunter.  Last week when that happens, he'd be shot.
