6 bits,  You are right on the warrant and repair at Redfield.  Sent two back.  You can now hear and feel the grinding noise as you change power.  Sh%t stuff.

Over the years I have tried quite a few different brands of rifle scope.  Without going into the gory details of what went wrong with various scopes, I now use only Leupolds on my rifles.

My hunting buddy did have a bad experience with a Leupold 1.5 - 5 X when he borrowed my .458WM.  He was not used to heavy calibres and in the heat of the moment forgot his instructions when taking a shot at a big bull buffalo at close range in the Northern Territory scrub.  The buffalo was well hit and succumbed on the spot.  Unfortunately, so did my buddy!  He ended up with six stiches over his right eyebrow and a good headache.  Can't blame the scope for that though!

Bushie-Bob;

Welcome to another antipodian!  Have you met any other of our members from Oz?  Or did one of them suggest the site to you?

In any case, welcome aboard & we hope to hear from you freqently.  Motorcycles?  Nude beaches?  Beer?  Any other subjects you'd care to ring in on?

CB900F

I have been a visitor on a number of forums over the last year or so, but this is the first time I have registered and posted any comments.  Am going to do join a few other forums as well.

I have enjoyed browsing the various topics on this forum and I felt it was time for me to join in and have my say.  I was encouraged by seeing a few other Aussies making posts on this site too.  Can't say I know any of them, yet.

Am fond of beer, have wisely avoided motor cycles for a long time (found other things I could fall off of) and don't go to the beach much.  There does not seem to be much difference between a nude beach and a normal beach these days, with a lot of the girls just wearing ity-bitty g-strings. Mind you, I am not complaining.

It is probably best if I stick with hunting topics I reckon.  I have been a keen shooter and hunter for 40 years now and have accumulated a chunk of experience and a swag of opinions.  Expect I might have more than enough opportunity to air a few of 'em here.

Thanks for the welcome.  I hope to be a regular participant.

I don't know how true it is. but I have heard from a few sources that some of the Leupolds on Ebay are counterfiet (knockoffs). Knowing ebay, it wouldn't surprise me. YMMVI know good from bad the ones I bought were the discontinued vari x 2's and the serial #s proved it knock offs are made in chinewaa and rusky just look at the ads and they're a dead give away and when you look at the scope you can tell.

bob

A lot of the sellers list Leupold VX as Vari X 2 or 3 scopes,I've sent inquiries to some cluing them in but some don't get it and can't even give info on the type of reticle heck they don't know what it is. check this one on ebay 130005600915
