Here's a pic of a world record rainbow taken out of Saskatchewan. It weighed in at 43 pounds. No it's not photo shopped as they guy also posted the link to the tourism office where they use the pic for advertising the fishing in the area.

they put some of those trploids out in the big lake a few years back !!!!   maybe thats what got my rod and reel the other day ??????

What's a triploid? Is it a special breed of rainbow that grows to a large size? Just wondering cause i've never heard of them.

  they do something to the fish when they are small..  something to do with the genes so they dont reprobuce and the stay out and eat instead of come in to spawn...  what they tried here were kings....

the fish was caught in a large manmade reservoir called Lake Deifenbaker in s.w. Saskatchewan. There was a trout farm on the lake and a large number escaped. I dont remember all the details but the fishing was fantastic for awhile. They are still being caught but not in the numbers as before. I am assuming these were triploids as they were being farmed.
