My peepers been goin' down hill fast over the last couple of years. Now, my beloved M71 with the peep sight may jus' be useless for this ol' coon. I remember Selway said somethin' 'bout a scope mount made to sit forward of the receiver on a 71. Anybody know what he was talkin' about? Don't know if I'll make that leap into the 20th century, or jus' skip that century and put an' Aimpoint on the 71. Would that be too much?

Got your aperture open all the way?I have one of the Merit corp. varialbes that works great. As for aimpoints, or the scout mount, no idea. I can say, I did try a red dot on one of my Swedes one season. Didn't like it. Too dark, and hard to pick up on the critters.

Red dots are ok, but I don't use them. Something about making sure that you have extra batteries for it before you go to the field just doesn't appeal to me. They must work though, for as many people that are using them. Certainly B-Square must make a scope mount for a '71. They even have a website.........................Kingpin

Kingpin, I worried about the battery thing, too. I always carried a spare. However, I have the sight on a pistol now. Same battery for seven years at least. I check it every once in a while, to make sure there is no corrossion. But they are apparently very long lasting, as long as you remember to turn them off. After all, it is only generating a very small point of light. not much power draw
