  I know weird question coming from me.

  This guy here has an older Lupy VX-2 in 2x7x40,it's older I can tell from the way the name is on the side and right under it is the serial #. This one is the way I always thought the one I got rid of should have been but Lupy told me I was dreaming. This one on the other hand is really clear and brite and the crosshairs are sharpe as a tack, one very faint ring mark on top. He wants $125 for it. I've been looking for deal on a scope for my .308 not really in a hurry this one just kinda popped up.

  What do ya think should I grit my teeth and do somthing I said I'd never do and give a lupy one more try ? Should I offer him less or is this a good deal?

if you lived up here, i would say wave a C-note in front of his face, and say that if the scope performs well you will throw in a 6-pack of beer.

not sure how that would play down there, though!

I bought a used varx-2 2-7x (about 32mm) for $100.  I'm very pleased.  I already have 4 or the 2-7x leopold scopes.

Tikka;

If the glass is good & you like the style, do the deal.  As above, you might start off with a somewhat lower offer that's not insulting, but always offer to throw in the 6-pack of his choice.

If it's a 40mm I'd be all over it. My cost for a new VX-1 2x7x33 is 170.20, a VX-2 of the same power is 248.40, just for your reference.

Sounds about right.  I've been looking around at some Vari-X IIs and the 3-9Xs with a 40mm top out around $200 more often $150.  I'd say $100 would be a great deal and $125 isn't out of the question.

 Guess I shoulde have updated this thread.

 I bought it back before deer season and mounted it on the .338 Fed. perfect scope for this rifle. Did make one mistake, it's a VXII  2x7x 33.  Makes a nice package on the Tikka. Just hope I never have to deal directly with Lupy Cust. service ever again, thats what turned me aginst them in the first place.

 $125 was a steal IMO. I'd buy a truckload at that price and sell them for $200 bucks a pop if I could find the truckload.

I've never had any problems with Leupold customer service they've repaired every scope I sent in and returned it rapidly. I bought a lot of used vari x 2's right after leupold stopped production, some were bargains others were almost new priced but all were in perfect condition.

Tikka,

I'm glad you are giving them another chance.  I hope they will prove themselves worthy of your trust.  Many have had good experiences but that doesn't mean damn thing if yours was a bad one.  Good luck and that's a great buy on the VX II 2-7.

Tikka, I own 4 of those Leupold rifle scopes and I will tell you that the $125 price is a bargin for that scope.

Now as far as Leupold "customer service" goes gentlemen, I have delt with them twice over the years and the outcome was above my expectations.

I had a scope damaged badly while hunting in Africa, it was a driver error that caused the rifle to get tossed while doing 40mph in the back of the truck. We were chasing a herd of springbok.

I sent this scope back to Leupold along with my wifes "silver" colored scoped. The sent me 2 brand new Leupold rifle scopes!
