Mine starts when the ice goes out and the crappies start hitting. May I shift to trout fishing evenings, cause morning is turkey hunting. Been starting my season with crappies for 25 years. yummies! |

Well the season starts in May for game fish (Walleye & Pike). But my season starts when the ice is thick enough to hold my van. That's my favorite time to fish. I do some open water late spring and early summer fishing. But hard water is my passion. We're getting a late start this year lots of snow and slush causing inconsistent ice thickness. Should be good to go soon though, been getting some cold weather.

Fishing is a year around deal here. Most of the low land lakes are open all
year. There is some sort of salt water fishing going all the time. Now the rivers open and close and you need a lawyer to figure out the regs., but they are open most of the year and some all year. At least the powers that be did'nt close the Skagit down this winter for all fishing like they did last winter. Screwed up my sturgeon fishing but good. |

feeders are 1/2 inch black steel (pretty soft), about 6 footers. The bears lean on the feeders as their long tongues lick the seed out of the feeder. they are only trying to get to the food and lean (same as on a tree), but it slowly bends the pole into a 90 degree bend, then they lick feed of the ground. They are not a regular at my feeders, but most feeders have to be straightened once a year or so. They are night feeders. with early snow, I can see them in the daylight before the take a nap.
