Well folks here's my next question about Smith and Wesson,pretty much like the title says whats the difference are they anything like my K frame? Why don't they have a referance page for this stuff. OH wait we do it's called the Baitshop.

mike: its just how the say what size frame the gun has. there are the n frame , k frame,L frame and j frame. the mod 27 and 29 are n frame. i think it is the larger the letter the bigger the frame.

In the center-fire calibers, the J frames are all 5 shot. The J is an updated version of the I, which is no longer made. I should dig out my Smith material, but I'm getting pressed for time & am relying on the ever-suspect memory.

The I and J frames were originaly small frames for the .32 S&W Long Cartridge. They were changed to 5 shots in .38 Special only.
