Weaver 12x50. Not great glass, but good enough for how I use them.

NH, How much $$ are you wanting to spend? I'd look at bushy Legends first for cheapo's ($200) Then Nikon priemer ($500) If you going higher get Lieca's.. forget Swar's and Zies, I got lucky as the devil and found some lieca's marked at nearly half price, and I only had to wait a year or so for them... LOL! Spot |

I have a pair each of the Leupold Wind River and Nikon compacts, both 10X. I can't seem to get the knack of using them. My Go To set is an old pair of Leupold 9X25 Prism type. The cost about $250 ten years ago,and I don't know if they even make them yet. I esepcially like them because they have an adjusment on each eye piece.

I use several different bino's. I like the pair of off brand 10-30 x60's for spotting. I have a pair of bushnell 8x20's that fit nice in my pocket. But my favorite is the Burris 8x40's with the rangefinder, a little pricy at 600, but well worth the expense.

The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

I've got 10-50 Bushnell's on my boat, rubber coated and seem to work fine the last 8 years. I wear 8x-40mm B&L on my neck at all times hunting. Started to the last 10 years since my eyesight went to shit. Can't hunt without them. Mine are quality glass but are heavy. they are great always, but especially in low light. BEAR |

THe Leupold Wind Rivers are pretty good in eight power. I haven't tried the tens. I have some 8X30 Stieners that are pretty decent, and some Minolta 10X that are real good.

I use a Celestron 10X50 wide angle. Bought them in the late 70s or early 80s. Kind of heavy for carrying around, but great for glassing from the vehicle. I've also got a pair of compact Simmons 8X21 that I never use because they're a POS that makes everything look fuzzy. I need to get a good quality small binocular for the field. And one of those straps that keeps it close to your chest, but lets you pull it up easily for viewing. |

I agree with 7mm magnum ! I bought a pair of the Nikon Monarch 10X42s just before my recent Elk huint I really liked them. TheWeaver grand slams are real good also but hard to find exept on line and did'nt want to wait. The wind rivers are decent too. I was happy when i ranto the store clerk who sold me my nikkons on my hunt and he was wearing the same binnicks. I paid 299.00 ...tj3006 |

I recently purchased a pair of PENTAX 10 x 50 DCF SP's for around $600 dollars. I still don't think in my eyes anyway, that they are worth the extra $260 plus bucks over the Bushnell Legends that sell for around $300 dollars or the Leupold "Wind River's" that are in the same price range as the Bushnells Legends. The PENTAX are a little brighter in low light, but not that much that I can't make out what I am looking at through the Bushnells Legends. Anyway those PENTAX I purchased got high marks whatever that means in your eye's.......Not that big a deal in mine OK. Edited by 2Bits |
