Maybe, possibly , perhaps.
I just talked with my Fabricator.
He is planning on working this weekend , to catch up.
AND He MAY get to my drive for the VW motor.
I think I told you after a 2 month wait I got it before
and put it on and in one minute it tore it self apart at
under 3000 RPM.
We did a redesign and are planning on going with a
carrier bearing to help stabilize it. BUT it has been
OVER 2 months now and it still is sitting on his
bench....
I'm at a complete stand still on my project now till I
get the drive and install it.
MAN I'm hoping he gets it this weekend
I NEED IT !!!
Maybe, possibly , perhaps

better tearing up in his shop with out you and the prop on the
ice!

hang in there.

PS those 4 bearing blocks I send are stiff. they can be
'softened' to any degree by drilling holes (slow speed bit)
parallel to the center bore OR turning exterior rings on the
circumference. (slow speed lathe)

Those are the starting moldings for custom vibration dampeners.

Well still no drive...
BUT he was working on it some , maybe this week.
I did find at my local aluminum dealer, 3 sheets 4x10 .100 5052 and a 4x4 sheet .
They will cut out the peaces do the bends for the two "CATS" for $856.
I didn't think that was out of line. They don't weld bummer, I'll need 8 welds about 30" long.
The rest I'll glue and rivet .
I think I'll go that direction, 190 pounds for 80% of the hull . About right???

D;

Probably the best place to go looking for aluminum welders
is in the aircraft industry. Several places up on Gore
Hill in other words. Got a good buddy in MANG?

No conections up on the hill.
Several places to have it welded in town.
One being my "Fabricator" But who knows how long THAT would take .

OK I got it!

I had him extend the motor side part of the "Shaft" so it will engage the pilot bearing in the crank nut.

We made enough room also to put a Carrier bearing before the clutch.

I put in a Sks high speed/heat bearing in the Pillow block. And replaced the bearing that the belt will "idle" on

AND I put it on I'm NOT going to spin it under power this time till the Carrier bearing is attached to a frame.

I ordered The 3 and 1/2 sheets of .100 5052 aluminum
Next Friday I should have the 8 peace's cut and bent in my shop.
My Fabricator said the 8 30" welds I have to have should only be $100 and much faster then the drive.
I'll Glue and rivet the rest together .

A buddy of mine will fab the Mounts for the motor/prop drive/ and the Catrermeran deck as needed.
When I feel its safe I'll power spin the drive and jack shaft to get an idea of rpms them talk with the prop people. Maybe by next years Gopher shoot I'll be able to give rides Up belt creek !!!!

More stuff

I got a 3/4" 10 foot peace of steel conduit today.
I got a 10" Metal cut off wheel for the table saw.
I cut a slit down the length of the tube and cut a miter on the end.
Just "Dry fitting it and testing how much work it will be.
I'll will have to have my buddy weld the ends together, and have to make Bands/clamps to attach it but here is what It looks like. I like it.

I'm waiting on a rivet set For my air hammer to start gluing and riveting them together.
I'll have the "corners" Al, welded after I finish putting them together.
