   Well guys, I bit the bullet and purchased a 14 by 17 Cabela's outfitter wall tent. I have a cookshack in my current setup that is getting old and worn, and my current wall tent is only 10 by 12. My plan is to cook in the tent, we always have, dealt with a bear once. When 3-4 guys are hunting I will use the new wall tent, and if it is just me and one other, I will use my 10 by 12 wall tent.

	Yes, they are comfortable. I have a backpack dome tent, a canvas tent that uses an external frame, and a small wall tent. This one is made of lightweight canvas, but i treated it to make it water and mildew resistant. The next step was to sew a zippered door and bug screen, and I cut a triangular window on the back wall. Finally, I bought a 9-angle set and 2" conduit tubing for a solid frame. The frame makes it heavy and cumbersome, but I get it to my campsite on an ATV. I also bought a treated canvas floor for it. My hunting partners snore loudly, so they sleep in their own tent. This makes for a very comfortable tent, where I have a large SlumberJack cot, topped by a Cabela's roll-foam mattress. I even have a small foldable table, and a full-size folding chair with armrests. I heat the tent with a Mr. Buddy propane heater, but only for a few minutes when I get out of my sleeping bag, or before I get in my sleeping bag during the night. After using both canvas and nylon tents (as I get older), I find canvas tents the most comfortable and roomy. Edited by Rayfromalaska

	Zowie! That's a big one! You could hold motorcycle races in there. I have a 9X11 I really like. Over the years, I've had smaller, and bigger, and this seems to work out good for two people. I don't hunt in bunches as a rule, and if more show up, they better plan on having thier own camp.

	I see more and more people with pre-fabricated "houses" -- they make them out of particle board and 2X4s, designed to be carried in a trailer or pickup bed. The "roof" is a nylon scrim tarp. Some of these go as big as 16X12, and I've seen them in elk camps in Colorado, right into the elk country

	Just an update, I swaped the 14 x 17 back to cabela's for a 12 x 14. That made more sense to me. Good camp for 2-3 guys. Also got a cylinder stove for it.

	Ray from AK "a canvas tent that uses an external frame" I've had one of these for 35+ years. Lots of use and even backpacked it when I was younger. 9x9 with a floor and an Aluminum frame (fits inside my canoe which is carried up-side down on head/shoulders. My tent was a Wenzel, very good company and everything was American made. I'd like to get another but Wenzel is out of business. definitely want canvas but not the heaviest available. What brand you got? size/ thoughts. BEAr
