This is a wonderful scene showing Native Americans trading with Native Americans. Others frequently forget that the Native Americans had a really effective trading network that extended from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Europeans DID NOT introduce trade to the Native Americans on this continent.

Europeans traded items to the Native Americans that THEY COULD NOT MAKE for items the Europeans DID NOT HAVE. Both sides traded items that were of lesser value TO THEMSELVES. The relative concept of various items made the trade balanced and fair...with the exception of alcohol.
