I have a Leupold vx-III on my 358 lever, and a Bushy elite 4200 on my 300WSM.

In the store the Bushnell looked brighter.

On the bench the Leupold had a much better eye releif range.

In the field I have never noticed anything on the Bushnell, but the Leupold did get a bit steamed once.  I guess since I mount them right, when I'm field shooting I don't have problems with getting dark rings when looking through the scope.
