I have Had very good success with them in the past. The lead ( 5X 7 1/2 1- 3/8 oz) ones I use for Upland never let me down. So I did up some steel ones. I put them on Paper but I can't check speed. The paper shows out of 109 pellets in my 3" 870 with an improved choke tube there is an average of 96 hit in 30" at 45 yards. Of that 80 hit with in 20" and around 45 hit in a 12" Circle. I have shot them out onto the water to look at the shot cone and there is definitely two cones, one is wider and just a bit behind ( I would guess the #2's) and the other( I think the #BB) is MUCH more condensed and stretches out farther in front. It all Happens in a blink of an eye so there can't be Much difference in speed. The listed speed is 1500 fps and a PSI of 9500. I'm going to try a little different load ( 38 gr steel and VP-70 wad) and get that up a little higher. Anyway ,any of you that May like a duplex load this is what I did.
![]() 3" fiocchi pre primed hull-616 primer Ranger plus wad -4 splits 35 gr steel powder 240 gr #BB steel shot=39 pellets 246 gr #2 steel shot=70 pellets 6 gr buffer thats a 1 1/8 oz load a 14 gauge O/S card and an 8 point crimp I also seal the primer with sealer and I put a drop of Model glue on the crimp to stop any chance of water in the shell. ![]() AND I put a taper die on them to keep them feeding in to my chamber, the New hulls tend to spared out when I crimp them. sounds like a decent duck load. what velocity are you getting? some stringing can help as it gives you margin for thr duck to fly into it if you shoot too far ahead. |

I'm thinking more of goose/swan load. It should be over 1500 fps. Here is a pattern board of it.
