Landlord lent me his truck and ATV and im off for 6 days for a whitetail hunt. The place im going is right in the path of a whitetail migration route. Maybe migration isnt the word but its a place where they all seem to be when it hits the cold and rut in November. My buddy gets one every year over that way so i figured id give it a try. I already filled my doe tag and ill post the pic when i return but hopefully ill have a buck to go with it. There should be quite a bit of snow up there and the whitetails should be rutting so if i see does then thats where ill hunt. Alot of hunters use this area during this time of the year so it might be good for me to use my tree stand and let those hunters do the work for me. The only thing im paranoid about is backing the ATV down the ramp off the truck as ive never done that before.

good luck - you'll be fine.

when i've had to get an atv out of a truck before, i just put it in neutral, and jerked it out of the truck, letting its tires and suspension do all the work. 'course, that was a fairly small atv - not the big monstrosities i see now.

anyway, go get a good 'un!

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

only thing on that ATV backing up is; don't change your mind once you start.  Keep it going.  Braking down on a backup ramp just about guarantees disaster.
