22wrf -
2 suggestions. the first is the area north of lewistown, south of the
missouri river and northwest of highway 191. here's a rudimentary map of the
area:
i have hunted here; saw a lot of
antelope and was able to take a fine doe whil my dad got a small buck.
i forget the district number, but it can be found at montana's FWP site
which i mentioned earlier.
another good place (i don't have a map for this one) is the area south
of the milk river, north of the bears paw mountains, west of the little
rockies and east of the hill county/blaine county line. this is
district 690, and i will most likely be looking for antelope there this
fall. the area directly north, which runs to canada, is also good, but
i am not as familiar with it. while i know this area much better, and
it would certainly be much less crowded, i would have to say that the
area near lewistown would probably have a bit more public land. success
here (district 690) has been better for me, but that is probably mostly due to my
familiarity with the area. the
opportunities would be about equal for a good hunter.
one big advantage of the lewistown area is that if you get any elk or
mule deer hunting in that area, you could combine the hunts in a
relatively small area. i have seen good numbers of antelope in both areas, and quite a few big boys.

Based in Ekelaka, there are vast BLM lands available. Just west of Camp Crook, S. Dakota is the Montana line but the 'lopes are unaware of state boundaries. Nearly uncountable 'lopes in this almost un-inhabited area.
The virtually deserted campground/park at the historic old spring would be a good base, too. Good map will show you this spot, a short drive from Camp Crook. Years ago, the Hoag family owned this land, now it's a park/campground. We knew this family. Old man was blind since teen accident but he could do nearly anything a sighted person could do. I watched him re-build Grandad's carberator when I was just a hayseed kid.
Good hunting to you.
