What is your favorite rifle company, or firearms company in general? I listed the most popular that came to mind, not in any order. Please tell me what your favorite is if it is not on the list. NH_Hunter BTW i just kinda wanted to see how these poll thingys worked. |

Since I have more Remington's than anything else, that's how I voted. Note, they are all "pre-green-key-safety" thing-a-ma-jig. I will fully admit to a big soft spot for Rugers, though! Love my Tikka [we still friend's Mike?]. I also have Winchester and Browning. Sadly, sold my Savage 116 .30-06 when a nice older Rem 700 BDL .30-06 came along.......so it goes!

NH: Well on your list, I guess I like Winchesters best, although I own more Remingtons than anything else. I also really like Springfield Armory (both the real one and the new one), Beretta, and CZ. The quality of a CZ will impress you, and the Beretta Mato is a fine rifle. ------------- The problem with the rat race is, even if you win, you are still a rat. |

NH Hunter; I don't have a 'favorite' maker. I have favorite rifles for the job at hand. I own Winchester, Ruger, Savage, Remington and Volquartsen. At times, in places, under these conditions, for that purpose, each is my favorite. I'd be perfectly happy to own a CZ, if they'd only correct the glaring error of constantly putting the bolt on the wrong side of the action. In spite of horrendous quality control issues, Sako, Mannlicher, Anschutz, and other European makes occasionaly get it correct regardless of the thousands of defective examples made with the bolt on the 'other' side of the action. I know you know what I mean. Now, how much ignorantium is going to come over this one? 900F ------------- Birth certificate!? He don't need no steenkink birth certificate!! |

What? No Mauser or Springfields or Enfields for us hopeless antediluvian dinosaurs? I have a "thing" about Paul Mauser's creation, especially commercial 98 derivatives. I have a representation of all the major manufacturers here in N.A., and a couple of offshore ones as well. make mine a remington. in the past 2 months or so, i've picked up 4 of 'em, some w/ the key, some without. the key is easy to get rid of... quick visit to brownells can net you the pieces to remove it all together. also, when i replaced my firing pin w/ a tubbs titanium pin, it eliminated function of the iss, though the wart is still present (just non-functional). i used to get a little disappointed w/ remington when i saw the lock...since i discovered the parts to retrofit the non-key shroud, pin, etc parts, i no longer let the key bother me. ------------- Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that. |

I like the key. Our stupid assinine gun laws require the gun to be 'deactivated by locking mechanism' under so many circumstances - i'd need to carry a trigger lock around without it. Stupid gun laws.

Gotta go with what Eagle eye says I'm pretty pleased with whats in the safe,but my soft spot will always be a Sako Finwolf and my Tikka's.For me it's knowing that when I pull the trigger I now where that bullits gonna hit and thats the confidance I have from products that come from the Sako plant be it a Sako or a Tikka. Guess I'll vote remington because I mostly use their police and tac models in competition.If I had more money it would be custom all the way.Interestingly a custom rifle built on a savage(yes that is correct) placed 5th in our national fly shoot recently.So I guess people do build competition rifles on savages.
