Well now, I know everyone here loves Mathews bows as much as I do right? Just in case..........that was meant to be sarcastic. The president of our archery club just got back from a trade show in Indiana, similar to a SHOT show but much smaller.  He says Mathews stuff has gone up an average of $250 per bow across the board. Maybe all their advertising will pay off and people that only look at comercials will pay $700 for a $400 bow, but I'm thinking that they might just be starting to really price themselves out of business.

By the way, I think at least 50% of the bows in out league shoots are Hoyts, most of them target style though, I just noticed that Saturday.......but didn't see a single Mathews.

We have Hoyt, and Mathews wako's all over this place.

One kind of nice thing is the Buckmaster bows that were made by Jennings they're around 300 -330 for a new one and are only a shade under the mathews performance.

I've got one I don't use and think of getting rid of it from time to time.  Dang thing is fast, smooth, and accurate.

Well no wonder I didn't kill that trophy buck - didn't have a Matthews bow!

I guess that little PSE I got at a pawn shop for $75 and the 18 whitetails, wild boar, turkey, and varmints was a pure fluke.

Glad that I'm now on the right track

Seriously though they are a decent bow but for my purposes I don't feel the least bit handicapped with the non-matthews versions.

I've got a Hoyt and love it. Mine is a 2002 Hoyt Magantec, that my wife bought for me at Christmas in 01. I am not like a lot of people and buy a new bow every 2 years. I expect to get at least a good 5 years from a bow. I'll probably keep the Hoyt closer to 7 or 8 before I trade up. I used to lust over a Mathews, but when a bow is going for $700 that is too much. I bought a new Winchester 70 FWT, and it was cheaper than the new Mathews the store had on the shelf. I know several people that will only shoot Mathews and nothing else. Though I shoot Hoyt, I even think they are getting too high in price. I am a member of the archery club on base, and the guy that runs it always laughs when I show up with my Hoyt and all the others have their almighty Mathews. This guy claims he can not hear my Hoyt, but hear can hear every one of the Mathews when they are fired. He thinks it's funny how Mathews claims to be so quiet, but yet my Hoyt beats them all hands down. Now if the wind would just quit blowing 90 to nothing, I need to get out and shoot as I haven't even picked up my bow since Oct when I shot my muley busk with it.

The compound bow market is saturating.  These things last 50 years if properly cared for.  Mathews has just figured out that if you raise the price of your bow and call it premium people will run to pay you more for it.  Hegher profit margins on fewer bows.  Does this sound like "Premium Bullets".

I have had Ben Pearson, Browning, Bear, Pse, Martin.  The one thing they had in common was they all killed whitetails if I did my part.  Personally I like the Martin with the wooden limbs, seems to quiet the shot.
