Wonder if y'all use any of this inexpensive bulk Winchester .223 ammo. It's 45 gr JHP and rated to 3600 FPS. Can be had at Wally-World. [Sells for $17.00 Canadian for 40 round box - which is about $11.00 US].

I stocked up on it to use in my Rem 7 in .223.....was thinking it was almost cheaper than loadin' my own?

Marcus.

My Savage doesn't like those 45gr jhp's too much.  They were selling those for about $8~$9 a box for a while here, then they went up to just over $11.  But they have the 55gr psp (same brand) for 50 rounds/$7 now, and my rifle shoots them plenty well enough for the short range (100-150yd) hunting I mostly do with the .223.

my wife's 223 shoots that stuff fair, i guess... and my notes indicate 3196 f/s through a 22" barrel.

i wouldn't shoot it through my gun...i prefer accurate loads.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.
