Bow hunting started here today so I thought I'd get in a few last practice shots in last night in low light. On the fourth arrow the string SNAPPED! It felt like it took my right cheek off. I ran in and slapped some ice on it and that seemed to keep the swelling down to a reasonable level. I have a nice two inch red slice but still have my vision. This is the second time this has happend to me in the last year. This is a new bow with only 3-400 shots through it. Does this happen very often? I'm starting to get a little "gun shy" about this string snapping I've been waxing and had it professionally tuned. Any ideas? DD ------------- Endeavor to persevere. |

dog: what kind of bow is it???? compound???? i would check the pullys.. have someone look and make sure the string is alinged right.?? is it a fast flight string??? of all the bows (compound's) since like back in the 70's i have only had 1 string come loose on me . that was an old browning with the tear drops on the string. lets hear more ------------- mr mom |

Please tell me your not shooting a Martin????? I have a buddy that I hunt with same deal even went as far as sending it back to Martin nobody could ever figure that bow out,it was hitting the bar the slide goes on,but not consistantly but he knew when it did.He finally gave up and traded it in on something else. Man I know your hurting,ouch. ------------- God,Mother,Country,and Hot Rods. Done with political crap.LOL |

I just bought it a little over a month ago it's a Browning F5 Tornado (compound). Not a very expensive bow to be sure but I never thought it would do that to me. It just had the factory string on it not sure what type. I see alot about Zebra strings are those a good replacement? Should I be contacting Browning? The last one that broke on me the string was over ten years old that's why I went out and bought this bow. Never thought the sting of lightning would strike the same place twice if you know what I mean. DD ------------- Endeavor to persevere. |

Where did it actually break? Int the center or at the ends? I know a
friend has problems with strings but he uses a release directly on the
string, heavy wear spot. He also has a another spot that has heavy wear
spot, it is alao Martin, to me it looks like it might be contacting the
guide, he says its from his arm guard. After what Tikka says I'll take
a look at it with him and make mention of that.

deaddog: call browning !!!! i have and they are good to work with... i have called many times on the kids bow's . the micro midias's and told them what i needed and they send it out no ??? asked. even though they know these bows are old. ------------- mr mom |

I haven't looked at it that closely and am work now so I won't see it again for a week but I think it was just above the bottom pulley where the winding stops and the bare string starts. ------------- Endeavor to persevere. |

deaddog: i would have the cams looked at. a string replaced is about 12 bucks , but i was told those zebra strings are like 50???? nathan has 1 on his. like i said i have only had 1 string let go on me. but i have herd some storys about others. a buudy has an onida eagle. the power limb hit his platform and when he woak up on the ground he found parts all over. 1 limb was stuck in the ground. ------------- mr mom |

DD, Definitely call browning and DON'T shoot that bow again until the cams are fixed. Zebra's are good stings, mine tend'd to stretch a bit but not enough to really change things. Second thing you may want to do is send your bow to browning and see if your local dealer is screw'n it up. At least take it to the biggest shop in town and see what they say. Spot |
