Since this thread started 2 weeks ago, I'm really not expecting anyone to see this.... but someone might.

TTU - when all else fails, I use a black bloodline worm made by Zoom.  I like that brand of worm the best.  The blood line worm is basically a black work with a red sheath around it.  I also have a shrimp colored bloodline when the worm is black and has a shrimp colored sheath around it.  You also may want to try some worm dye.  I like the chartruse / garlic flavor.  Dip the tail in and it glows and adds flavor too.  I use a lot of blue worms, purple, motor oil, moccasin, even cotton candy.  But when all else fails, out comes the red blood line.  It ALWAYS works.

By the way, when worm fishing, I only use "OWNER" hooks.  These things are awesome!!! They are the shrpest hooks I've ever used.  They also have a wedge or arrowhead type point.  I've hooked bass and the hook came through the fish's skull.  SHARP HOOKS.

I usually fish early morning for bass (6-8am) and late night for walleyes (9-12pm).

My morning bait is a yellow single silver blade spinner bait.  I try to buzz it along the top of the weeks, usually about 1-1.5 foot below the surface.  Before the sun is full up, the bass seem to be more oriented to looking up to the surface.  Those purple worms with a Carolina rig, are better when it is bright/hot and the bass are on the bottom.  When it is hot/bright, I'm usually in the cabin with a cold beer.

mr mom - Gamagatzo hooks are my second choice for worm fishing, but first choice in everything else.  They are very sharp, but the Owner hooks with the arrow head shape really cut deep... like I said, pulled one of 'em through a skull.  Owners are #1 for worm fishing, Gamagatzo fro everything else.

I caught 3 12" large mouth the other day with a red and white crank-bait with a silver spinner. I casted right to the edge of the lilly pads and they were hitting it within the first 3' or so. The water was 5 1/2' deep according to the sonar. Rock Lake central MN.
