I have a .22-250, 100 Hornady V max 50 gn. moly bullets, 100 cases, and the stuff to put them together....except the powder. I think I can get load out of some of the H4350 I have or some of the IMR 3130 but I thought I'd ask around. What is the powder that works the best for you accuracy wise?

Don't have one, but I think either Varget or H4895 would get my first vote, H4350 may do ok but will lack velocity as it is the slowest powder Hodgdon lists. You have me wondering what the powder of choice is for some on here now.....

The classic 22-250 load is 38grs H380. I use the same load with 52gr. Sierra BTHP's. Works for me. Ruger M77VT.

Steely;

I don't have a .22-250, I use the Swift instead.  But I did some research for you.

Nosler #5, using their 50 gr bullet of course, lists H 380 as the most accurate powder.  They don't list H 4350.  IMR 3031 is listed, but is well off the mark in velocity compared to H 380.  Varget is listed & shows average velocity, 36gr going 3794.

Hornady#6, uses the 50 gr V-Max of course, but doesn't list accuracy.  They show 3800 fps as max velocity with many powders capable of making that speed.  Varget is one, no H 4350.  Win 740 & 748, Vihta N140, IMR 4064 & 4320, and RL-15 will all do it.

Speer #13 shows in order of descending speed:  AA2460, Varget, RL-15, Viht N135, and H 380.  Those go from 3804 on the top to 3693 on the slow end, with H 380 producing the least velocity at max load.

Steely,

IMR-4064 works real well for me. I go for accuracy over speed. I use 35 grains with a 52 grain Sierra Match King.

Steely try H380 or Varget both pull groups around .300 to .250.

Accurate reloading quotes 36.8grns Varget.For 52 grain bullets

40.3 grains H380.for 52 grain bullets

My personal favourite if you can get it is Bench Mark 2.It maxes out at 36 grains for 3905 fps.A good starting point is 33.5 grains.This is for 50 grain bullets.

Thanks guys. I have some Vihta laying around too but I forgot the number. It's probably too slow for the .22-250. I suppose a run to the store for powder isn't a bad thing. I need a portable bow target too.
