Hey guys, today i bought a Ruger Blackhawk from a gun dealer for $225. It is in .45 LC chambering and it has a 4 5/8" barrel. We had to wait for half an hour for the transaction to pass through the state police. New Hampshire has a strange law about firearms. I also got two boxes of ammo and i am hoping to have to get more shortly. I will post a pic as soon as i get my camera fired up! I almost got a Vaquero, but i thought that the Blackhawk handled better. Another one of my considerations was the Ruger Blackhawk Convertible in .45LC/ACP. I decided against that because it didnt handle as well and it cost more. All in all i am satisfied with the transaction.

You are gonna have lots of fun with that Blackhawk. Now just get yourself a die set and start cranking out the cartridges for it.

NH;

The only diff in the convertible is the cylinder, why would it handle differently?  Unless the barrel lengths were not the same?  Of course the convert costs more, you get more.

NH,

just asking, but aren't you 17? just wondering with how gun laws work around here. Plus, what about a 24 hour waiting period? or was it a used/personal purchase. Just being an ASSk.

Hey BK, i am actually 14. I payed the money and he signed the papers. Since the gun was used, we just had to wait for verification from the state police due to our weird laws on handguns. If I had been anywhere else except that gun shop where the guy owes my dad money for security system and electrical work, and the fact that the guy knows who i am, i wouldnt have been able to get it.

NH;

Check these people out when you go to get a belt & holster for your new Blackhawk.  I've been carrying my Blackhawk in one of their rigs for about 30 years now.  It's as serviceable today as when I first got it broken in.

Idaho Leather Co. 18 South Orchard, Boise Idaho 83705.  Phone (208)344-2602.  They were still in business in 1996 I know that for sure.  Reasonably priced & top quality.  Not fancy, just good stuff.

NH;

If I were you, I'd write & see If I couldn't get their printed catalogue.  There doesn't seem to be near as much stuff in the on-line.

I've got a model 77 in plain black with a basic cartridge belt.  Like I said, it's been a fine rig for about 30 years.  Back then, I think the whole deal cost about what he seems to want for the 77SS holster alone.  But back then you got more for a dollar, however, the dollar was harder to get.
