I am looking for a Puma Buddy knife, made in the late 1960's.
The one I want is different from the Puma Buddy and Buddy II knives now being sold. The one I am seeking has a straight blade, with a blood channel (such as the Buddy II has). There is also a grommet hole in the haft, for attaching a lanyard, as well as for securing the knife in its sheath. In addition, on the dull edge of the blade, there are serrations used to provide a secure thumb grip for use when cutting. If anyone knows where one of these knives may be found, I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks. Taren taren@viawest.net |

Tern, I don't know where you are located, but in Pensylvania there are lots of gun/knife shows, most every week. Last week I was at one in Wurtenburg and they had a few large used knife displays. The one guy had a number of Puma including two "White Hunter" models. the prices were high, $120 but your can 'negotiate'. i have a White Hunter Puma, so that is why I noticed. Also was looking as someone on this board, asked about a Solengen Knife. the gun show had about 5 of them in various condition and some with acid etched deer, prices $20-30. Just wanted to say that these shows have lots of vintage knives, you shoul be able to find the '60s Puma Buddy easily. Also e-bay is a good way to find such. If you post a picture of what you want i'll watch for one at the next shows. BEAR |

Thanks for responding so quickly. The knife you posted a picture of is the newer Buddy, and not the one I'm talking about. Its product number is 118383; The one I'm talking about has a number of 6383. I am unable to upload any pictures, for some reason - I get the error: "The image is of the wrong file type", yet they're listed as being .jpg's, and are well within the max file size. In fact, I may try to buy the one in that picture (I found the site after I made my original post). At any rate, I'm looking for a mint-condition knife, if at all possible. Taren |

Fella's; I do believe, that in the later '60's, the Buddy morphed into the Pal. I'd like to find a Hunter's Pal from that era myself. I know exactly where my original is - within the exact 40 acre field that is. 900F ------------- Birth certificate!? He don't need no steenkink birth certificate!! |

CB, 40 acres isn't to large. Lots of time to spend listening to the birds and scouting for game. I lost my 9mm S&W in about 100 acres. Yes it took me some time to find it, but I had female companionship, and I "initiated" a few acres on bright sunny days. Nothing is without some physical effort. BEAR |
