Thought the .22rf fans might be interested in this.  A friend bought the above Marlin, it's the stainless steel version with the laminated stock, bolt action, tube feed.  It had a Leopold VX1 mounted in Weaver rings on it.   (It comes with one of those new "firesight" front sights, also)

Only ammo used was Winchester solids.  The main purpose of the shoot was to determine that the rifle functioned properly and see what it's potential might be.  Started at 25yds, to get the scope "on the paper"  (Bore sighted the scope first, required very little adjustment)  For this, the scope was set a 3X, and was mostly getting 3 shot groups with holes touching, or very close to touching.  Once zeroed, moved to 100yds, cranked the scope up to 9X.  Got groups in the 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 range.  I only shot 3 shot groups, and was really not trying hard to shoot small groups, so I think the little rifle has a lot of potential. There were no jams, failures to feed, etc. in this brief test.

Negatives:  The safety is difficult to operate, the trigger pull is STOUT.  Later, in my shop I pulled the action and examined the trigger.  It could probably be helped by smoothing up the sear engagement surfaces a bit, but the real culprit is a very strong spring.

Examining the stock after the action was removed, the inletting was very clean, an appeared well done-by machine, no hand work apparent.  The barrel is not free floating-and probably doesn't want to be on this small action.  I think it would benefit from a bit of glass bedding under the action screw stud, and at the very rear of the tang, just to keep the action screw from putting undesirable pressure on the barrel/action.

Overall impression, nice little rifle, will probably shoot like a house afire once ammo is found that it prefers.
