I hve seen some 1

     I am buying one in the next week or so. Very nicein deed. I am getting a 2.5X8 for my .270. I saw a 3.5X10 with the new boone and crocket reticle. I like the reticle but it adds about 60.00 to the cost.

Fellas , how does the glass compare to other scopes out there, and have you been able to compare them with any other brands? say Monarchs or the Conquest?. Leupold says that some of the new models transmit 98% light which would  make them  the very brightest on the market. I know brightness isn't everything in a scope, but the Conquest I have is very clear and  bright and the adjustments  have been very  good. Tell me something please!

Arkie;

I have a Vary-X III in 3.5 X 10 50mm and a Weaver Grand Slam 3.5 X 10 50mm.  Leupold's warranty is better, no question.  The glass nod, barely, goes to the Loopy also.  Value's another question.  The Weaver is significantly less expensive, about $200.00 under the Leupold.

The Leupold is 3/4" shorter & the difference is all from the turret saddle forward.  The Weaver has a longer taper from the tube to the objective diameter & looks more gracefull.  Both of mine are 'silver'.  The Weaver is grayer & the Leupold is a brighter silver.  Neither is mirror-like to reflect a lot of light though.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a 'Ya pays yer nickle & ya takes yer choice' kinda thing.

I helped a buddy mount & bore site a matte Leupold VariX-III 6.5-20x40mm AO on his brand new Remington 700 "Police" VS [26" barrel] .308 last week. We are going out to the range this Tuesday & I will be shooting that rifle and comparing to my older Rem 700 BDL "V" [24"barrel] .308 with B&L Elite 3000 4-12x40mm AO.

I really like my set-up but of course that Leupold is head & shoulders above the B&L scope. We'll see how the targets compare, as the Leupold costs almost 3 times what the B&L does...

Regards, Marcus.
