I found an older Savage 110 in 3006 $300.
I think the 110 is a step "UP" from the axis, old is not a concern, I'd change the barrel anyway.
I have a bottom from another project, it was a 308 to a long action. I think it will interchange, to make the 3006 length to 308 size. If it does, I would rebarrel to a 22 Creedmoor. I'm thinking a 16.5" barrel to put a suppressor on it.
Shaw barrel,

I have a TC 22-250 22" that shoots Lights out.
But with the new stuff, the Creed offers the option of longer bullets and possibly shorter barrels.
and it's threaded for a suppressor. I understand it will never be quiet, but it does help a little and normally increases the accuracy.
I'm thinking something like this for ammo

 Just thinking.
It all hinges on the bottom mag adapter. I can get a new one, but they're like $150, then I'm up to the cost of a new rifle.Question

Sounds like a good combination for coyotes and prairie dogs.

I shoot 69 grain Matchkings (not tipped) in my .223 with a 1 in 8 twist. Your 1 in 7 barrel should be good with 69 grain bullets.

My .223 isn't real quiet with a can but I can shoot it without ear plugs.

OOPS, my bad. A savage 110 could have an internal mag. So I'll have to work with that. I'm rethinking the barrel length, an 18 vs a 16.5 would be a better choice, I think. It looks like I'll take my wife to lunch In Bozeman.
The rifle is in Belgrade, just short of Bozeman.

Lots of different models of 110.  Mine has box magazine with  a close stock bottom.  that is the strongest stock design.

Well A little back paddling...
My local Scheels had a sail on Ruger American rifles.
I went to take a look. They had a 22 creedmoor.
There fluted and threaded suppresser ready.
Only thing is it's a 20" barrel, still workable. I have a 22-250 that we worked a great load with a 62gr SST that can shoot the eyeball out of a coyote at 100. There ballistically twins but the Creedmoor can shoot the longer modern bullets.
Now instead of using time waiting and building I can start working on loads.Big smile

Very nice. I have 2 Ruger Americans and both of them are very accurate for a factory rifle. I haven't worked up a load for one of them  yet and it shoots Hornady Whitetail hunter factory ammo plenty good for my granddaughter to hunt with.

congratulations.  looks good.

You will find it handles much nicer than the 110 action, they are long and heavy.

lets see some targets.
