Jack O'connor past in 1978.  He was the GUN EDITOR of Outdoor life for decades, and mandatory reading each month for me.

Just inherited about 20 hunting/fishing/shooting books.

A good read is J O'connors the Complete Book of Rifles and Shotguns (1960).

While old most of his many opinions are still valid today.  Interesting read on how to pick a deer rifle.

I'm sure that at garage sales/library sales their sells for $1.  But a bargain good read.

I'll keep an eye out for one.

If I'm driving down the street and see a garage sale I almost have to stop. I don't look at books but I will now. I never thought there might be something I would be interested in.

"Horse and Buggy West"   He talks about growing up in Tempe when it was an all day ride to Phoenix  and back.  He talks about big Mesquite thickets, and hunting quail in the area.  This is nothing but houses now.  He also talks about a cold deep Salt River where ducks abound....and the hunt/N is good.

"a cold deep Salt River".

I'm guessing that was before the 4 dams were built and all the water diverted.  Last few times this Eastern boy saw the salr river it was dry  "Where's the Salt?"  "Where's the river?"

good thing Jack isn't alive to see it today!

Wingmaster....not sure that we've met.

Baseball just started....I only had 3 games this week.  I had that many last Sat and Sunday (6 total).  I trained an ump tonight, and another tomorrow.

We drove over to Moab (about 120 miles) for the Jeep Safari's Manufacturer's Expo and stopped at the Jeep display and then did a short trail and came home....

There is no rest for the wicked.
