Boat is now ready to go into water.  all clen.

last year was a bad one for me, boat was pep'd  and ready with a full tank of gas (E-10).  But I never got her into water, so now I have lots of old gas.

Good news, this morning I put my 'earmuffs' on the Mercruiser and bingo she started.  first thing will be to runner her out of at least 50 gallon of the old stuff asap.

Well, the gas is 18 months old, stored 6 months in 90 degree weather and 1 year underground at52 oF.

starting perfectly and running great.  son pulled skiers last week for about 1 hour.

No problem, working like new fuel.

I always tape shut the vent caps when stored, seems to work.

will be fishing friday, and hope to run more old fuel out of her.

It's good to hear you didn't have any bad gas problems.

I don't know if it helps but I always run pure gasoline in my small engines. They aren't used through the winter and I never have had any problems when I start them up the next year.

I have no proof of it but I think gas with ethanol in it is the problem.

It just dawned on me that you said your son used your boat.

Is he home?

Yep, after 6 years overseas he and 4 grandkids and DIL are back in USA.  along with a dog named Tesla, after Niccola, not the e-vehicle.

We spent a week with him in DC, then 3 days in Buffalo, then a week at my camp, and finally 6 days at our house.  Love them all, but N 8, 2 TWIN GIRLS 10, AND A 13 YEAR OLD DO WEAR AN OLDE GUY DOWN.,

They will be in DC area for the near future, bought a house.

Hope to get him and GS out to plains for hunting next year.

hey bear good to hear the kids back in USA. say Hi to the son from me.
Wingmaster I think you are correct in your thoughts that gas with Ethanol is bad for small engines. My thoughts on gas (fuel) for Small engines is that I only use Premium gasoline aka hi-test gas for all my small engines: lawnmowers, chainsaws, atv's, outboard engines etc.  The reason I use Premium gasoline for all my small engines is that there is NO ETHANOL in the Premium fuels vs Regular test gasoline at the pumps (at least here in the mid-west). I have been told by outboard motor mechanics that any engine with aluminum parts is prone to issues if any Ethanol gas is used in them. I also add a fuel additive to my small engine gas to minimize any water affects that may be present in stored gas....like when in the 5gal cans I use for that fuel.
