My 6mm rem remember is wankie in the scope alignment department.
I have adjustable scope rings on it but occasionally the move.
This is what I have in mind.

Burris rings.

And wail I'm at it a different scope.
I run a very similar Burris on the 8mm and like it.
Maybe I can have enough side movement to where I can have a base the is not off bored. All better.
What do you think?

I've not used these; but have only heard good sbout them.

They come in +/– .005", +/– .010"and +/– .020" inserts..      Seems if you go +.029 on the front and -.020 on the rear you get a lot of re-alignment.

Before these were available, I filed a set of aluminum bases to get some alighnment, then spray painted those bases black.  BUT these look good.

how much are you out of alignment (poor drill/tap holes) in action rings?

(poor drill/tap holes)
A lot. almost a complete hole off.
When you mount it with normal bases and rings,
and put an inch dowel in the mount, by the time you get to the tip of the barrel your off noticeable. Maybe half the bore if I remember, maybe more.
I have used the rings before and I like them but very touchy to use.

based upon a 6-48 screw,  that is about 8 foot off at 100 yards.  need to get that out of there!!

The fix I have makes it shoot scary accurate out to 400 yards but it's fragile and can move I had one mount brake on a hunt.
I'm trying to do a better "FIX"
All the gunsmiths I have talked with will not touch it.

Often they weld the bad holes grind and redrill,

possible to fit new bases to action, clamp and redrill thru both base and receiver in new position, then tap.

just thoughts
