Still changing my own oil.  But I've made it easy.

Started with the GM block engine on my boat; added a Fumoto Valve.  Simple brass valve that installs in place of you drain plug.  I merely run a piece of clear plastic tube thru the boat water drain hole to under the block.  Slide the plastic tube on to Funoto, and turn the valve on.  use oil drains out and thru the boat drain hole into gallon container for disposal.  While it slowly drains I replace the oil filter (every other oil change).

Funoto valves are simple and install just like a oil pan drain valve.  can be used on auto and trucks also.

I recently installed one on truck.

I was going the every other time, on filter change. Talking to couple fleet managers, they said they've went back to changing filters every oil change and for synthetic, twice for every extended oil change. They said filter, is cheap enough, that more frequent changes make sense. They have added supplemental/double filtration, on trucks and machines that spend much time, idling or in severe service, like off road use.

I know changing filter is messiest part of oil change, especially in boat, but you want clean filter, to allow higher flow and catching more junk, at least that what was explained to me.

I made a sealable plastic container that just holds the oil filter.  I remove it cholding it upright, and lower it into the container.  then seal it as to get it out of the bilge, it must be sideways.  oil spills are good teachers.

Car and truck I have it done, about every other time I have it done right at a shop.
The big boat is a 2 stroke.
I have not run the VW/ airboat long enough to change the oil yet...
