The steel m36 can handle P+ loads in resonable doses.  I've been carring P++ loads since 1962.  In my smiths and my weaker charter Arms.

i loaded them at 357 level, fired a cylinder full, no damage and then carried them for CCW.

Fairly good link. http://www.snubnose.info/docs/Model_36.htm

I'm fairly new to 38 snubby, only been carrying Ruger since, 75 or so. Never saw need for +P loads, I always carry either 148gr DEWC or 158gr LSWC. I tried the 125gr HPs when they came out, never really was convinced they were best in 38.

I've shifted back and forth between  158gr LSWC  and FMJ.

There was a batch of stainless 36's factory chambered in 357 mag.  Agreeing with Bear, in reasonable doses you're fine.  Good luck, 788

I carry a model 60 chambered in .357 in the summer. It is the same gun as the model 36 but stainless.

I have shot quite a few .357's through it and it has been fine doing it. Kinda uncomfortable to shoot though.

Back in the 60's standard 38 Specials were loaded hotter than +p 38's are today. I guess it's a lawsuit thing.

Shoot all the +p 38's you want it will be fine.

I used to have an older J frame, 5 shot, M36 of course all steel. I used to shoot the odd cylinder of 110 gr JHP +P thru it with no seemingly ill effect. It eventually went off in a trade but I still have a M37 which is the same sized wheelgun but with an aluminum frame. I'd never put +P's thru her, though.

+P for CCW is ok.  just not a steady diet.
