I'm an eastern hunter so I seldom sight in for over
100 yards. Not sure what rifle will go 'ote winter hunting in Mt this year. But how should it be sighted in? Rifles possible will be: 222 Tika 50 gr. kimber 260 Kimber 123 gr ultra light weight 22-250 50gr M700 257 Weatherby is staying home. All are sub MOA, and have similar trajectory. Present thinking is to be on at 200 yards. would 1" high at 200 be better? what sight-in zero would be best?????? |

90% of the coyotes we shoot are under 100 yards.
If your patient they should get that close. That said I have the 22/250 and the 6mm zeroed at 200 yards, that puts me only like a 1/2 high at 100 and around 3" low at 300. That way I just shoot at hair. I did shoot one at 440 yards the extra 140 yards put me like 18"/ 24" low. That just take trigger time. The 6 is a little better but anything over 300 is a hit or a miss. If any of your rifles are zero or close at 100 I'd leave it  ------------- Remember: Four boxes keep us free ,the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, AND the cartridge box |

My 223s always sighted at 200 for just the reasons you said, D: Will pretty much get the job done without much adjustment between 50 and 250. ------------- The reason for the 2nd Amendment is so that we can keep all the others. |

Any particular reason why the .257 Weatherby is being parked? If it's not coming, the .222 Tikka will do just fine. I'll either use the 6mm Remington or the CZ527 in .223. 900F ------------- Birth certificate!? He don't need no steenkink birth certificate!! |

257 weatherby is in a Mark V, to heavy for winter walking me thinks. Could break out the 257 bob from the safe, a little lighter. kimbers 5# always seems to win...for this old timer. The 257 wea mag and other super performers always seem to need heavy long barrels and stocks to get long range performance. The only heavy rifle I lug hunting anymore seems to be the 9.3x62 in the 550FS. It feels/carries lighter than its actual weight...maybe love enters into it! |
