At first glance, it appears Ruger has

My email has been blown up with advertisements for the
Mark IV. I still haven't seen one. The changes are that it is made to be put back together easy after disassembly. According to the advertisements, real easy. I haven't heard about this either. I did the Majestic speed strip kit,
trigger, and bolt release. Not cheap or easy but it makes it the gun it should have been all these years. Maybe Ruger wants a piece of the action same as competing with Volquartsen and Tactical Soulutions? Muleskinner: I bought a Ruger MK-IV Hunter yesterday.
It IS an awesome pistol - and I say that having not even shot it yet. I knew I wanted one of these when I started getting the E-mail advertisements and videos from Ruger a few weeks ago. Once I saw it in the shop yesterday and took it apart looking at the amazing fit, finish and machining of the pistol I plunked down the money right then. I have several Ruger MK-I's, MK-II's and MK-III's but they don't hold a candle to the fit, finish and ease of take down of this MK-IV. I have not fired the pistol yet but hope to do so when my visiting German friends leave the states next Monday. I am SO impressed with this MK-IV that I am thinking of going down and buying the OTHER MK-IV my local gun shop got in yesterday - its also a stainless offering but is the "Target" model with a slightly shorter barrel which is not fluted and does not have the fiber optic front sight like mine does. The "Target" model also has black plastic checkered grips (that are strikingly handsome by the way!) whereas my "Hunter" model has checkered wood grips (no thumb rest). Anyone in the market for a semi-auto 22 pistol I highly recommend you find and look over one of these MK-IV's for yourself! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy |

Wingmaster: Pardon my slow reply I have been chasing guns
around the west and getting ready for the Big Game opener. Take down is just about instantaneous! And re-assembly is nearly as quick. I am still waiting on the scope mounting rail (Weaver/picatinny style offered by Ruger) to get here so no shooting of it as yet. I should just try some "iron sight" shooting with it for function testing I guess - in the mean time. The AMAZING thing about the ingenious dis-assembly and re-assembly though is you get to examine the superb machining involved in the breach and lock point areas. I mean somebody has these CNC machines doing superb work. With tolerances that are obviously miniscule. Come on rail. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy |

List price is around $1,000 to much for me, for a

Scheel's in town had a couple I looked at. The prices ran from about $425.00 to a hundred more depending on the model & features. They sure are slick to open up for cleaning! I'd have to have a jaw-dropper deal shoved under my nose before I bought one though. My SIG 1911-22 works just fine. 900F ------------- Birth certificate!? All: The heavy Ruger Picatinny type rail scope base
arrived Saturday and I now have the red dot type sight and base all mounted up on the Ruger MK-IV Hunter. Now I need a break in weather (wind) and visiting friends who are here for the Big game season. The nifty heavy metal base cost $15.00 from Ruger and is heavy but NOT magnetic - I don't know what metal it is? Have three types of quality American made 22 L.R. hollow- points (two by Winchester and one by Federal) to try when I get a chance. Hope one of them shoots well. I might even try the Remington Golden Bullet hollow- points as I got a "bucket" (1,400) of them recently. Will advise how it shoots ASAP. Yes the MK-IV "Hunter" is the most expensive of the current MK-IV offerings - I forgot if I mentioned the price I paid previously here, but it was $575.00 (no sales tax). More later. All: I finally got to shoot my new MK-IV and it shot
quite well. It functioned perfectly with three kinds of American made hollow-point ammunition. I was a little disappointed with the trigger pull as I now notice a small amount of "creep". My pistol preferred the Winchester 40 grain Power-Points, a tad, over the 37 grain Winchester hollow-points and the Federal 36 grain bulk pack hollow-points. The latter two munitions shot very similarly accuracy wise. I can't wait for spring and the return of the Ground Squirrels! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy |
