There is a new revolver out now. Kimber brought out its
first revolver, K6S. As you probably remember I'm a
big fan of Kimber (best made) and also small frame
revolvers (easy CCW), so this was of interest to me.
I've not had a chance to fire it but, I fear Kimber
missed the mark by a long shot (pun intended).
It is too big and two heavy for the CCW Market. It is
357 and 6 shot, both just add weight. A 38 P+ would let
the shooter practice with 38 and use max power 38 P+ for
carry, while keeping the weight lower. they also made it
SS steel, again adding to the weight.
With a 2" barrel, I'd not ever consider it for a belt
outside holster carry, preferring instead a 3 or 4" wheel
gun.

Today, CCW snub-nosed revolvers are generally at the 15 ounce level. This is a half pound heavier!!!!
Like to see them ad adjustable rear sight,; it has the dovetail already, then add a hammer extension, external and make it SA/DA. Oh, add a 3 inch barrel, and I might buy one.
If you look at it, it has an exposed backstrap, metal. ouch, it is a 357. No energy absorbing grips.
I'm not sure shat it competes with? A snub nose 101?

In defense of the new Kimber revolver - I had a chance to
carefully look at and inspect one of these over at my
local gun shop a few weeks ago.
It was well made, NO, it was EXCEPTIONALLY well made!
For just one instance - I have checked the ignition
timing on at least 5,000 revolvers in the past 55 years
or so and this Kimber was by far the most impressive of
all of them in this one regard.
Heres how I check the "ignition timing" on them, I cock
the pistol and then pull the trigger holding the trigger
all the way back - lowering the hammer manually of in the
Kimbers case just pull the trigger keeping the trigger
fully "pulled".
Then while keeping keeping the trigger in the fully
"pulled" position with your other hand grasp the cylinder
and turn the cylinder left then right - normally you will
have 3 to 4 thousandths of movement in a new well made
(high quality) revolver.
Used revolvers wear and will go up to several thousandths
of movement at moment of ignition timing checks. They
still will work in this condition but are usually less
accurate.
I did the test on the Kimber revolver (in EVERY cylinder
stop position!) and there was NO, I repeat NO, cylinder
movement at all!
Not even 1/1,000 of an inch!
This cylinder timing was by far the best of ANY revolver
I have ever checked!
This includes Colts, Freedom Arms, Smith & Wessons and
custom smithed variations among many other brands!
That Kimber pistol stayed in the local gun shop (town
population 4,200!) exactly three days before it was
purchased.
That cylinder timing really impressed me.
As well as many other features and qualities.
I hope that the folks at Kimber come out with more
revolver models in more calibers and hopefully they will
be of the same quality as the example I inspected.
