Before I retired, I had 9 trophies in my office. Lots of folks just thought me crazy (Maybe rightly so). some female secretaries refused to com into my office because of the death vibes (usually the ugly ones).

Today, I'm wiring (110v) my man cave...and have 12 trophies looking at me. everyone a great memory. Some days those memories are what gets me through.

dah....I forget is the white the ground or the hot wire? I'll just ask the warthog!!

Tikka;

Now that's a very nice whitetail! Way to go! Could you
tell us how the hunt went & what you took him with?

Not to much to tell, but some funny I guess.

The farmer that owns where I hunt, has let a professional photographer, take family, wedding pictures up there around the old barns, woodpiles ,by the ponds, etc., he has warned her,it's deer season, Mike and his son hunt here, do not under any reason got to this part of the farm. My stand where I shot this buck,is on an old farm road that goes in-between one of our food plots and a hay field and sits right smack dab on the powerline.

I get to my stand around one ,put out some Golden Esterus,and settle in for the afternoon. About 2:30 the does start to trickle out, I watch them till about 3:00,and hear a vehicle coming,I look through the bino's and hear they come stopped about 400 yards by the big wood pile to snap some sweet pre-marriage photos. The does look up, check them out and went on back to their mid day buffet. I settle back in and watch these folks and the does through the binos. After they got done they get back in their loud suburban ,and head my way,and then I see the new little family with two youngin's ,maybe 5 and 8 ,I'm guessing in a white SUV ,so cute and I was just so happy,happy ,happy they were on the farm, headed down the road to where the farmer (who's at work, and they undoubtedly thought they had the farm to themselves),told them this part of the farm is strickly off limits . Well here they come,the little two car convoy,headed right for the powerline,where I'm sitting 15' up in some ceders.

As they roll on past,the Suburban with what I now know are turbo mufflers,goes slowly rolling across the powerline,with the cute little couples suv right behind. I'm thinking keep going ,keep going, but NNOooooo Miss photographer,stops the Sub ,jumps out camera in hand with a 6000mm ultra zoom dohickey lens, tells everyone to get out ,and look at the deer. Well by this time whitetails are flagging high and headed to the next county. They are standing there wondering why the does didn't want their photo taken ,at the bottom of my stand, where I am in complete camo,and unseen as of yet.

I calls out and say hello, trying to stay as peaceful as I can after just witnessing the show, but a better one was about to appear right before my eyes. As they realized they are not alone on this fine chilly afternoon, and unable to find from where this voice is coming from ,little Miss photo-bug I think just pee'd herself ,and started apologizing in every direction she could think of, knowing what she had been told, and now busted. And the lovely lady that's wedding these pictures are for, eyes me up in the tree, and says there's someone up in that tree, as I wave.(City folks for sure). Well the show was like something from a movie, Miss photo-bug trying to get everyone back in the cars, little kids having nothing to do with it, thinking how cool this odd camo'ed creature talks and lives in a tree. Me I just shake my head,while the lady looks up with an, OH Shit look on her face.

Well now I got to decide should I stay or what the does didn't see me,so's I hung out for another hour or so an think this hunt is blown,I may as well give it up for the day,and then on the otherside of the powerline in the trees I heard the crunching of leaves that you know are way to heavy for a squirrel,so I sat and out of the corner of my eye I saw this huge dark bodied buck step out about 100 yards away, looking like he owned the world. I have no idea where he came from ,if the photo bug peaked his curiousness or what, but he was very interested in where the does smell was coming from.

I was shaking some, asking God to help calm me down, I put that scope on him and knew he was big bodied and had some mass to his beams, off came the safety, the 300WSM barked, sending the 180 gr SST through his heart. His back legs kicked straight out he ran about 60 yards, running dead and crashed. Now the work starts. 170lbs dressed ,biggest whitetail so far for this ,camoe'd creature that lives in the tree's .

Tikka;

Now that's a story worthy of the buck. An' see, if I
hadn't prodded you it'd probably have remained untold.
Don't underestimate your story tellin' abilities either,
that was a good'un.

Perhaps you owe your success partially to the photo bug for providing a
fresh squirt of "golden estrus" when she got caught?

In any case you boys are having a heck of a deer season over there.

Ha Ha DD ,now that's funny right there. This is one of those years where there's hardly any mast crop in the woods, what acorn's we do have are very tiny. So they are hungry . Makes me wonder what mid Dec. will bring.

Even if you hadn't got the buck just the experience would have
more than paid for the day.

Lots of smiling to go around on that one.
