Is anyone still buying those 30mm tube scopes?

They were hot 10 years ago, but I see more 1" offerings today!

BEAR;

Keep up with the times!  Now the "hot" deal is 34mm tubes.

haven't been in the market for a new scope for a while but a 30mm tube certainly wouldn't keep me away from making a purchase, if the price was right and the scope had the features that interested me.

What would be the advantage to having a 30mm or 34mm scope tube?

LEUPOLD said he 30mm tube had no optical advantage over the 1";until the market bought into the ads.

I think if the magnification is less than 3 to 1; the 1" tube is fine. over that the 30mm tube is slightly better IF all factors are equal.

I have onE 30 MM TUBE IN nIGHT fORCE MONTS; expensive.   no difference than the 6x20 leupold 1" IMHO.

Fella's;

Supposedly a much wider range of internal adjustment. This is mostly to accommodate the long range guys I'm told.

marketing is the biggest feature for the makers of 30mm or
34mm...promotion of a new "you gotta have this gadget" to
make us buy stuff we really don't need...like lots of the
NEW calibers in CF rifles...mostly either duplicate older
ones or barely beat them but new calibers sell new rifles.

Holy cow, Have you seen one of the new 34mm scopes? These things are huge. And heavy too.

The ones I saw would look like a rocket launcher mounted on top of my rifle.

It looked like it would be good for a bench rest or target rifle but not something you would carry around hunting with.
