A couple of weeks ago, I wondered into a local pawn shop in Va Beach. I perused the used gun rack and there was a Model 12. I asked to see it and found that it was a 16 ga. I looked at the price tag on the trigger guard and suspected that it was the wrong price. $169 for a Model 12? I asked and he told me that it was priced right. Then I got a 10% discount for military veterans. I am convinced that he didn't know what it was or what it was worth. I tried to keep from doing a celebratory dance and succeeded, substituting my "axe murderer" gaze. Now, the finish is about a 50%, but the timing ring on the barrel kept it very tight. I am not sure what a 1937 16 ga. model 12 is worth, but I am quite sure it's considerably more than $163.90 though. Funny thing is, I am not even a fan of the 16ga. I can learn to be though. I also already had one in my rack. AH well, I guess I saved it from some numbnut that would have "customized" it.........Kingpin

Kingpin;
Yupper, that sucker needs a Polychoke an' a thick red rubber buttpad all right! I kin tell that from here, sight unseen.
All joking aside, even at a 50% finish, I'd think you could at least double your money without much effort at all. Good score and congratulations!

Kingpin, Go on Gun Broker type it in the search block and
see what comes up and maybe what they are goin for. Man I
am so happy for you. How come I cant never fall into deals
like that. Usually its the other way round for me. I just
started lookin for a M-14 Springfield 308. NOPE....... Aint
happenin. I aint payin 1400 bucks for it. Ruger has a 223
synthetic stock and everthin for round 800. But it aint
what I want. So for once. I am glad that someone somewhere
found somethin dirt cheap thats worth some decent bucks.
Congrats. Let us know if you find anything out bout it.

There is a funny thing about me, when I actually get off my wallet, I always keep what I bought. At this time, I am in possession of 3 Model 12 12 gage, 3 model 12 16 gages, and soon to be 3 model 12 0 gage (I have 2 of those now) I can't bring myself to sell any of them and am hurt when I even think about it. I am in the market for a Model 42 in .410. I saw 4 of them last week in a gun show, but for what they were, were very over priced. One of the vendors uncased a factory engraved mod 42 in about 95% and he wanted $16,000 for that. It was drop dead gorgeous. Another guy had a Model 12 in 28 gage in about 90% and asked $5600 for that one..........Kingpin

I got one of the m12 in 16 ga...about the same condition as yours. It had a ratty red crumbling recoil pad; I got a hard buttplate from Dixie. It was made from an original. It is my bunny shotgun.

Fella's;
My dad had two model 12's, both 12 gauge guns. One was a very early model, low serial number, 4 digits maybe? The other was the Heavy Duck Gun, 3" chamber and ventilated rib. When he moved to Arizona after he retired, he sold both of them, to my eternal regret. Hell, I'd have bought them!
I'm trying to prevent something like that happening with my children. Keeping them in the loop, asking what they might care about, things like that.
