How to keep them off you when you skin them.
The fleas want to stay with the coyote.
If you skin then ASAP when there still warm you will find way less fleas on you and your gear. Have a set of coveralls and jacket just for skinning fresh dogs. After you skin them lay the hide hair side out in the back of your truck and let it freeze, do the same with your skinning stuff, Pooff no fleas. If you spray raid or any thing on the hair it will take away a lot of Value and make them smell. After you "finish" them take them to the laundry mat and wash them in there washers with borax soap, it will take away the coyote and raid smell. Put them in there dryer for a little bit too the static will make the hair stand out and look GOOD!!!. NEVER NEVER put the coyote or hide, or skinning stuff, in your warm cab, trust me on this, NEVER!

Fella's;

I, on the other hand, have a much simpler solution to the situation.  First, I don't have a coyote, nor do I want one.  And since I feel no attachment whatsoever to the animal I just shoot it & leave it where it falls.  No flea problem for me!

not sure about fleas; but ticks are terrible.

Where I hunt turkey  they have millions.  When I arrive home, I strip naked outside (neighbor ladies love it) and then take my clothes to the washing machine.  Ticks can live through a double cycle of hot water and double rinse cycles.  I find them crawling in the stationary tubs, meaning they also lived thru a fast trip thru the pump.

Going out 'ote hunting tomorrow, really a scouting trip for turkeys which come in May 1 hereabouts.

MUST duct tape my ankles to avoid the buggers climbing up the legs to the crouch area!!

Well, I went 'ote hunting.  It was supposed to be 41oF And sunny.  Got up at 5 am drove 1:15 to mountainous area with some large farms around it.   It was 25oF and snowed 2.5 inches in 3 hours (wet snow). Saw close to 100 turkey in 5 large flocks.

Shot a 'ote and thought of D's fur treatment.  the 'ote was about 35 pounds when I shot it.  After two cycles in the laundromat with extra spin cycles....that coyote weights close to 50#  And the machine still has a lot of blood.  I must be doing something wrong 'cause the machine was making the ugliest noises!!ConfusedLOL

BEAR;

And if the next user is a gal washin' her whites, it'd probably be a good thing iff'n ya were a coupla counties away when she looks at the results.  If she's both armed & a member of PETA and you're still nearby, it could get ugly.

Of course all that's still better'n if you were caught doing it with the home laundry machines.
