Muletail's Hank Williams post made me think about a story that I wrote right after I got home from MYGAWDS this year. I posted it on a web site I frequent and it was published on another boxing site.

Anyway, I am no kind of writer, but I did think it was ok.

It does make a guy feel kinda warm and fuzzy. Thanks guys.

I have always been a big boxing history fan. I would bet most montanans didn't know their was a heavyweight title fight held in Shelby. That was back in the days when boxing drew the biggest crowds of any event.

Anyway, thanks again guys for the kind words.

Thats really interesting D. Did he tell any stories about the fight? I would be really interested in hearing about it. Any information about Jack Kearns would also be interesting.

Jack Dempsey trained in Great falls for a few weeks before the fight. Any storys about that would also be something I have never read or heard about.

Not much info that I can remember,he's been dead for Many Many years. Tell you the truth ...

He was a raging alcoholic( and an old bootlegger) so I'm betting his idea of going to "THE" fight was a belly full of Jim Beem and pass out ring side. JUST SAYING.

Sounds like he could have told a lot of interesting stories.

I really like listening to old timers.

Hey, where is 900f?

He did. His dad hired "Charley Russel" to work cows but had to get rid of him, drunk most of the time. Grandpa ran whiskey down from Canada but drank all the prophets.

He also made a Million dollars during the "depression" but , Yup, drank it all up. Defiantly a fun guy to Lison to. 900 is probable taking a nap, you know them old guys...
