I noticed several gun rags named it shotgun of year in the same issue, that rem had recall notice in.

It seems like freedom group (or whatever owns rem now) have had more than a few recalls on both firearms and ammo.  Are they just more proactive or are they getting sloppier with development/quality control?

Probably concerned with liability?

I'm sure they are a bigger target, but I would think the others would be concerned about liability also.  It seems like especially with regards to ammo, they have a larger percentage of the recalls, do they just do a better job of catching it, after the fact or do they miss more to start with.  It seems like they always have recall on one ammo or another, I can't seem to recall when another ammo maker had last recall.  It seems like it's on more of their "budget" lines, maybe they're outsourcing too much of it.  Maybe they are just running lines too fast, trying to meet current demand, I just know, I'm glad I roll my own.

I believe that Remington firearms and Remington Ammo are two different companies, with two different mentalities.

I just thought that same company(freedom?) that bought Remington arms, along with the other firearm companies, owned the Remington ammo company too, along with Federal, American Eagle, UMC, CCI and all of the other offshoots.  I knew Winchester and Hornady were separate, I thought Freedom bought most of the others though, shows how little I know.

Robert you are probably correct about commonly owned.  I tried to check and couldn't find anything definitive.  their site says they are the manufacturer of both guns and ammo.

My earlier statement was based upon my memory that when Dupont sold Remington arms, Dupont held onto the owership of the ammunition products as it fit with their chemical and explosives product group.  But seems I was wrong about them being separate companies today "shows how little I know".LOL
