Bought my son a CVA Hunterbolt 50 cal Magnum muzzleloader. Had a scope on it. I didn't look that close but it is a shotgun scope.

Is this workable? His longest shot probably 75 yds.

welcome to BSB, bluetick ~ i don't know any specific answers to your question, but i know that we have many members here who will be able to answer it as soon as they see it.

i've taken the liberty of copying your question over in our http://www.baitshopboyz.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=45 - optics section so that it might get a little more exposure. it should show up both here and there!

Should be perfect. That's where they normally set the parallex on shotgun scopes. (50-75 yds) anyway. Rimfire scopes are usually set that way too.

You shouldn't have any trouble with it unless the scope is broken...................Kingpin

I have a couple of shotgun scopes on rifles 1.5x4x32, they should work fine on BP, they work fine on a .308 auto for me and .243 auto for my daughter.  I like the wide field of view for close timber and 4x is fine for 400yd shot if needed, I've not seen parallax be an issue, at that low of power.  I also had one on a .22, worked fine on rabbits and squirrels.  IF I had an EBR, I would put one on it too.
