3" mag duplex 500 gr #5 and 320 gr #8 = 1 7/8 oz, any thing that flys  load, over 34.5gr.  blue dot .

Looks good.  About 8 years ago I gave away my shotgun reloading presses, etc.

I quit shooting comp so not a high volume and a youngster wanted to get into reloading.  So I gave him my Dietmeyer press and all my components.  6 month later he got caught in an affair and divorced.  My press is probably rusting in the ex-wifes $800k house.

Each year I shoot 8 boxes at pheasants,  4 boxes at ducks, 1 shell at turkey, 2 boxes at crows and , 3 boxes at rabbits.   so it isn't worth my time because I shoot low brass for everything.  $4 a box.

But in the day I use to handload SR 4756 in 12 ga to get a full 2 ounces of #2s in a 2 3/4 inch case.

For turkeys (I just got my 2nd spring turkey "tom' tag 2 hours ago) I'm still using #6 2 3/4 inch in my 870.

Actually last night a 2 am i awoke and was thinking, "do I want to use the red dot for turkeys on my 870.

What you got on that 870 of yours for turkeys?

It is just an super express 3 1/2 mag, 28 inch barrel, rem extra full choke tube. nuten special. I use it on doves to deer same set up with different tubes. And a sling for the long walk back to camp with your arms full of game.

Last year I used 3 1/2" dead coyote, but there $4 bucks each and not as much fun

Not so tough for a Browning BPS.  Own 2, with one extra barrel.

I was a fan of Blue Dot until I fired a 1 1/4oz load at a grouse and it created a perfect circle in the dirt around the grouse and not one shot hit the bird. A friend who was a duck and goose hunter told me to try Winchester 540 as it was great for ducks with lead shot.I tried some and had great results so a friend and I  started buying a 12 pound keg every three months for money  and meat shoots all around southern calif. My 12g 1 1/8oz loads were 1425 + fps & 1 1/4oz loads were 1330 +fps.In my 30" full choked Rem 870 & Win Mod 12 .

I have one 12ga 870-LH with 28" ribbed bbl & had it threaded for choke tubes several yrs back (B4 C/T's were popular) & only loaded for trap but used factory loads for most hunting....semi retired it now and use my camo/plastic stocked Mossberg 500 for most of my 12ga bird hunting..turkey & ducks....with the 12ga M-97 w/30" bbl, F/C thrown into the mix on occasion..or the dbl AyA w/26" bbl, M/F..for grouse or pheasant.....for nostalgia! My powder of choice for trap loads was 700-X w/Herters Chalice wads & Rem green shells then later WAA's (don't recall powder wt offhand now).

24, I don't think the powder was at fault.  Wad maybe, but powder just creates pressure behind the wad, can't envision how it could result in a circular pattern....And I can envision lots of shit!LOL

For most shotgun loads I used HS 700X

"Dot" powders are know for giving a anulus ring pattern when pushed over 1300 fps. REALLY like the 800x and 700x powders, may be going back to them, someday. Just took a count of target loads, 3800 12ga , 2200 20ga and couple dozen 410. My arms are worn out, but gotta get the 410 stock up
