a report that shooters might like to keep for historical reasons, as the report will probably be 'garbaged', and only available through archives...if you know where to look...

Interesting.  Both rifles do not even move the operating rod until the bullet has exited the muzzle.  And the M14 has a shorter operating rod that takes  about 1 millisecond  extra dwell.

Sounds like the rate of fire could be higher for the M1 than the M14.
