Hey guys, what do you think about this rifle, http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=9742671 - http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=9742671  and the .303 Savage in general. Getting the brass is the most expensive part, 100 for $75 bucks, but this is brand new brass, so it would last, so i wouldnt have to buy too much of it, and over the summer i will have an excess of money and might as well spend it on something fun.

It's a good caliber, a better killer than the 30-30 or the 32 Special, according to a couple of acquaintances who have used them since just after the flood. LOL. No seriously, I believe that it should be a great "fun" gun in the same basic class as the aforementioned pair. Looks to be in decent shape, only the one heel "chip". If the bore is a s good as the exterior, you should have a keeper. Regards, Eagleye.

I guess medium powered .30 cals just catch my eye. This one has had me since i read an article on Savage trying to sell it. They got me sold with 100 year old material. I am trying to find 190 gr. 30 cal, round nose or flat point bullets. If you guys know of any than please tell me where they are, cast or jacketed. There is a box at http://www.gunbroker.com - www.gunbroker.com that are .303 Savage that start at 55 bucks for 20 cartridges but they ammo is also 100 years old.

Hey guys, if i really wanted to have some fun, i could load up the .303 sav with 130 grain or 150 grain spitzer bullets seeing as it is in a rotary magazine. Most likely, if i get the rifle, i will use 180s because i cant find 190s anywhere. If i did find 190s it would probably be a bullet mold, and i was going to cast my own bullets for this thing anyways.

i Just found out that lyman makes a 195 grain round nose bullet mould with gascheck. This should be perfect for the Sav 99.

Tasunk, if i go with 190s it will be a cast round nose. When i go with jacketed bullets, it will probably be the 180 rn or the 200 rn that i have seen around.

Its not looking too good for that particular rifle. The bidding is up to 200 dollars, and i wont have the money in time to get it.  I will jsut have to wait until another sweet deal like this comes around again.
