Set my stand up on Friday night, got out early Saturday, and had a doe walk in behind me.  Thickest junk you'd ever want to see, finally got a small hole to take a shot, and she started walkin out of it.

Tryin to remember my position.  Lets see 20 ft up in a tree facin North, she came in the S.W. and was heading into the pines North east.  Saw here behind my right shoulder, stood up, turned around.  Put the gun on the left side of the tree (I'm right-handed) while I was kneelin on the stand (still 20 ft up).  I was weavin the barrel between branches that were behind me to camoflag me.  Cocked the lever - ear's went up (25 yd's from me) .

What I did see - a clear shot down a run at her shoulder.

What I didn't see - a dead limb that was stickin up in my line of fire about 3 ft off the barrel.

After I recovered from the recoil I saw the limb bouncing all over the place.  Guess God thought I had it too easy.  First day at 8:12 and all.

Waited for about 25 minutes, got down and looked for any sign for about an hour.  NOTHIN!   Didn't sit all day, left about 11am.  Didn't hunt the evening _ too hot.

Day 2

Squirrels!, chucks of stuff on my stand seat.  Got in, put on gloves, and my face screen that blocks all buy the front of my face.  No deer, flushed a dozen turkey out of the tree next to me.   Then came the squirrels - First one stopped just above my head, then left (didn't move - it was 8:15).  Second one came haulin ass down a limb right tword my face.  squeek'd at him - he threw on the breaks, about two feet from my face - we're just lookin at each other.  Started clickin my tongue like a squirrel chewin a nut.  Bugger must have been blind!  Started scratchin his ear then took another step or two my way.  Enough of this - moved my arms, think he pissed himself slightly.  Nervous little bugger after that.  Circled me twice in the tree, so I stood up.  He left the county.
