Bob;

This is the gun I took gopher shooting on Saturday.  See  my thread here in small game:  Gopher Shootin' Day.  I've had my CZ452 LHB for a few years now & it's a keeper fer sure, fer sure.

On a calm day (hah!), when I've gone without my morning coffee & the shakes haven't started yet, the thing will shoot MOA at 100 yards, given that you've found the ammo it likes. My scope is an older Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot in Talley rings, not some 36X bench glass.

The downsides are: 1. Magazines are expensive!  Depending on where I got 'em, the plastic 10 rounders ran from $25.00 to $30.00.  And replacing the steel 5 round mag that comes with the gun will run you over $20.00 also.  And 2.  The trigger guard is just stamped steel.  It's not real bad mind you, it just doesn't fit the quality apparant in the rest of the gun.  Other than the trigger guard, you'd swear it was a .22 caliber version of a pre-64 model 70 Winchester.

Oh, and if you do get one, you're going to be spending more money on ammunition.

My problem now is that I have moved to WA. I don't have hardly any opportunity to shoot gophers anymore.

I need a trip to MT for a weekend of gopher shooting. I will be down by Cascade in about 3 weeks, but that is for some rafting and visiting. Maybe I should pack my 17HMR just in case.

Bob;

If you're talking the weekend of June 20, it should be possible to get together, if only for a short time.  I'll know more the closer we get to that date.  If nothing else, it's only what? 23 miles up to da Falls & I'll show you the CZ &  some other fairly interesting stuff too.

Thanks for the offer. I will be in touch about this. I can't spend the whole weekend drinking and rafting....or can I?

So far I am pleased with my recent accquisition of a CZ 452 American LHB .22LR, nice wood (no figure just plain) good fit to metal, feels nice kinda like a centerfire rifle and an easy rifle to look at...haven't done any real ammo testing yet to see what it likes but the first 5 rds of Rem Thunderbolts could be covered with a dime or maybe 9cents at 25 yds off bench w/scope.

BTW, its getting hard to find .22LR's around my neck O the woods.....did come across some Federal 40gr solids in Blue pkg @ $16.99/brick and grabbed some.  Will give them a try maybe this week......alas...no gophers around here to shoot at like you folks in MT.  FYI.... I paid about $33-36 for a 5 rd extra mag at a local store, disremember the actual cost but it was in that range w/tax.
