As of today I've got committments for about $300 for the magazines we want to send to Irish Bird Dog's son. Pictures of his son on this and his earlier deployments are on the other thread we started last week. We need pretty close to $400 to make this happen. If any of you who have not yet participated in this care to do so please send me a Private Message so I can add your contribution. If I get this covered by Thursday I can place the order Friday. I'll pay it out of my pocket to get these on the way and trust all of you to get the monies to me. My local smith has agreed to get these at cost and we will ship them to Jason's APO address. Thanks, RD

i think everyone knows about this, but here's the link to the discussion, with the pictures:

http://www.baitshopboyz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16660&PN=1&FID=13&PR=3 - http://www.baitshopboyz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16660& amp; amp; amp; amp;PN=1&FID=13&PR=3

thanks to all the BSBs who are in on this, and thanks to rockydog for taking the lead on the effort and coordinating things. as i said in the other thread, i'd like this contribution to the red arrows to be made in the memory of bryce corris, a wisconsinite who was one of our founding members.

thanks again -

ron

Along that line.  If any funds were left over, I'd suggest we send to Bryce Corris Fund (maybe some Easter help for the children).

Bear, We are still about $100 short of our goal if all who committed keep their pledge. I haven't heard back from everyone yet. If I missed sending my address to those who wish to contribute please PM me ASAP. Thanks, RD

Just an update on the status of our M92 Magazines for soldiers project. I've received $215 so far. Just a shade over half of what we need. Please get any pledges or contributions in so we can get them ordered for shipment pronto. These guys will be needing them in just a few weeks. RD

come on, BSBs - if anyone can spare 10 or 20 dollars, let's get this movinig. here are some pix of irish bird dog's son and the boys that you will be helping out:

at armory when they left WI in Feb, this is him & his soldiers.

labeled and at Ft Bliss TX

then SSG Jason Janecek in 32nd Military Polices Co, WI national guard 2003-2004 in downtown Baghdad on patrol duty

Photo from Feb 2004 Soldier of Fortune magazine, they went to rescue a patrol who were ambushed in downtown Baghdad and the 'chopper is a Medivac and he & his squad are containing a LZ for it to pick up wounded GI's But it could not land, area to small.

He was a gunner in '03-'04 as MP, note 1985 Humvee and NO shield around gun and it was a M240B......no .50's or .30's allowed cuz they were in the city of Baghdad....go figure....

Even tho he was the convoy commander (2/127 Red Arrow this time)he took his turn in a gun turret so he could experience what his gunners went thru on a mission....wind rain sun etc exposure...note the uparmored humvee this tour 2005-2006 and the MA Duece .50 cal this time.

Just wanted you to see a brief pictorial history of his previous two tours. This time he is a SFC and the whole brigade is going over together not just one battalion as last time.

The first tour with MP's they were in combat for 450+ straight days in
Baghdad.  The second tour for him they were there for 12 months in country and the battalion drove 5.7 Million miles providing escort to convoys all over Irag. He earned a bronze star and the battlion earned a Unit Citation.

FYI.....Tenative Deployment date for these guys is on or about 25 April......we will send mags to APO from vendor and they will receive them in-country.  They will have range time to zero their weapons so will be able to test them before going on any missions.

Thanks for posting the pics here Ron...people always like to see who they are supporting.......thanks to all of you others who are supporting this project......God bless you all for caring......

UPDATE 4/16/09. Contributions continue to arrive. We are now up to $265 with a few pledges still out. We'll need somewhere around $400 to make this happen for the whole squad. Please send pledges or PM me for my address if you intend to contribute and don't have my address yet.  RD

Guys, I think we are there! I have 2 pledges out. One from someone who has generously offered the $ it takes to wrap this up. So right now there is $400 in the kitty. I'll place the order tomorrow. RD

OK, The magazines have arrived I'm packing for shipping today. I'll provide an accounting of the $ collected and expenses when I get done here. I'll place a general accounting here as I don't have permission to publish $ by $ donations from each member. I will, however, assemble that info and send it to Tas so there is some verification by an outside party. It's going to be pretty close to break even. RD

That's good news RD.....thanks again for running with this project.  To all the other BaitShopBoyz who participated in this project....THANK YOU for your patriotic gesture towards our soldiers.

Tas, thanks to you also for helping with getting the info out on the site and posting the pics for me.

Update on where OUR soliders are now:  They arrived in Kuwait about April 28 after a 22hr flight from Texas.  Just the other day they flew into Iraq on Chinook 'choppers to Camp Bucca in southern/eastern Iraq.  It is a large base with nearly 6000 troops stationed there. They will be stationed there for the next 10mths.  The 3,200 WI guard soldiers have been assigned all over Irag as required by the commanding forces there.

I will let you know when they get the package of magazines as soon as I hear from SFC Jason.
